Amy Catherine Morris creates work which revolves around narrative and myth - inspired by creation stories, mythology, nature and folklore as well as stories of her own; daily observations, conversations had and conversations overheard. The stories of others are realised through the making of ceramic objects which allows for further conversation with the individual and then a wider audience. These narratives illustrate our lives and question what it means to be human today; our feelings, actions, thoughts.
Though often humorous at first glance, many of Morris' pieces hold a deeper meaning and aim to both delight and encourage the viewer to discuss and question on a deeper level.
She gains the most excitement when working with her hands, bringing sketches off the page and into a 3 dimensional form. This method of working welcomes quirks and allows her to express her playfulness and personality.
