Gill Ross is a jeweller and enameller based in Dundee. She creates individually handcrafted pieces of enamel jewellery for busy people who are looking to connect with the calming influence of nature.
Gill became passionate about creating objects that people attach meaning to and wear to make a statement. She gained her Jewellery and Metalwork Design degree from DJCAD in 2009 and went on to study Master of Design at DJCAD in 2010.
Although Gill drifted away from making as she built a career, her yearning to create jewellery never left. In 2018 she rented a shed and bought a second-hand bench and started to explore making again. A crucial turning point for Gill was when she gained a VACMA Dundee bursary in 2019. This not only enabled her to purchase enamelling equipment and a kiln, but it also gave her the confidence that she was creating something worthwhile.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Gill developed a new appreciation of the landscape around the Tay on her doorstep and threw herself into making. Gill Ross Jewellery was set up in December 2020 and she continues to refine her skills to provide carefully crafted jewellery for a range of budgets and styles.
