Katie Hammond is an artist based in Aberdeen. She graduated from Gray’s School of Art in 2017.
Working in her summerhouse studio in her garden, Katie creates mixed media paintings inspired by nature writings and her own photography taken on visits to beautiful local gardens and ponds. She is interested in capturing the movement of nature’s pools of water in her layered, semi-abstract works. When she is reflecting upon the soothing qualities of nature, she enjoys using unusual tactile painting methods. She often paints with her hands and incorporates oil painting with encaustic wax, capturing the textures and movement within resin and varnish.
Painting helps Katie to take time to escape for a while from the difficulties of living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. She hopes her artwork is as relaxing for you to view as they are for her to paint.
