Nicola Reed Jewellery creates contemporary pieces which pay homage to the Scottish landscape and the flora and fauna found within. Her collection, Turoe, took inspiration from the red deer found in the Scottish Isles, and saw hand cut slivers of antler cast in silver and combined with stones traditionally found in Scotland such as smoky quartz and garnet.
Originally from Inverness, Nicola is currently based in Stonehaven, where she works from her home studio. She studied Jewellery & Metal Design at Duncan of Jordanstone where she obtained a BDes (Hons) 1st Class. Since then she has continued to work on a collection and commission basis and last year was awarded a VACMA to undertake training in wax carving and produce a new collection based on the textures found in the local landscape. More and more, she finds herself drawn to using local materials and will be using a selection of Scottish stones for this collection.
Nicola is passionate about continuing her education and has been awarded her Professional Jewellers’ Diploma as well as attending several courses to further her making skills such as stone setting and pearl stringing. She strives for quality within her work and finishes pieces to the highest of standards.
