Ursula Mathers is a visual artist, creating artwork for organizations and individuals in need of the contemplative space which contemporary art can provide. She offers a range of original abstract and representational paintings, objects and prints that create a vibrant visual and thought-provoking experience for galleries, homes and workplaces.

Ursula’s painting practice explores abstract experiential paintings and representational narrative. For her abstract painting research, she is interested in the search for visual harmony, when space, form, colour, light, line and texture gravitate towards a balance. She mostly paints with oils, pastels and watercolour.

Her representational painting theme concentrates on deconstructing stories of crisis and exploring how the painted image changes the impact of a story. She is working with themes that relate to issues I feel strongly about, such as feminism, human rights and climate action. Ursula’s practice also looks at trying to understand the process of making better, which has led to researching areas such as improvisation, flow and experimentation. She paints because it makes her feel creative and helps her participate in local and global issues.

As part of Ursula’s business, she also teaches art workshops to adults and children who would like to experience creativity, learn a new technique or develop their own practice. Lessons are provided in various painting and drawing techniques that offer an experience of exploration through creativity and learning through making together. Allowing Ursula to share her inspiration for creativity with others.
